  • Critical Quote — “Excellent readout fidelity is essential for the performance of your system, and solving that for the next generation of quantum computers is about so much more than just creating a smaller device. Because of the efforts of our team, we’re now able to deliver a better product at far larger volumes – putting us in a unique position to meet the growing demands on volume, quality and reliability that come with a maturing industry.” — Matthijs Rijlaarsdam, CEO of QuantWare.

PRESS RELEASE — QuantWare today announced the launch of the next generation of ultra-low-noise quantum amplifiers with its updated Crescendo S J-TWPA. The new product is less than half the size of the previous generation, whilst being easier to use and achieving better performance. Its accompanying high-density cryo holder, Concerto, houses and shields up to six Crescendi in a compact form-factor. This makes the amplifiers scalable for the largest systems currently available in the market.

To achieve fast and accurate readout of the qubit state, ultra-low-noise amplification is required close to the qubit at cryogenic temperatures. The Josephson travelling wave parametric amplifier (J-TWPA) stands as the state-of-the-art solution for this task. QuantWare’s Crescendo is currently the leading quantum amplification solution, in large part thanks to its ease of use: Crescendo allows users to read out many qubits at the same time, due to its large amplification bandwidth via a technique called readout multiplexing. This makes J-TWPAs a critical element of scalable quantum computers.

With Crescendo S, QuantWare has more than halved the size of these amplifiers whilst increasing performance. The smaller form factor allows fitting of up to six Crescendi into a single array with a small form factor called Concerto.

Along with the new product, QuantWare also revealed that it had developed improved production and testing capabilities, to increase the production capacity of the amplifiers more than tenfold.

Crescendo S is available in three versions: S1, S2 and S3 and is compatible with all common readout frequency bands.
