Press release – Riverlane, the world leader in quantum error correction (QEC), and the Unitary Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to scaling the open-source quantum ecosystem, today announced the launch of the Deltakit Community Fund. This new rolling, quarterly initiative is designed to support external software contributors building essential, production-grade features for Deltakit, Riverlane’s open-source QEC development toolkit.
June’s unitaryHACK26 put on by Unitary Foundation shattered records, uniting over 1,000 developers to close 165 bounties and earn nearly $18,000. Now, the Deltakit Community Fund is channeling that explosive energy into a sustained, structured pipeline for critical software development. The fund provides developer awards ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 for small and medium-scoped feature implementations, targeting foundational areas like bounds for error budgeting, threshold computation, and ZX graph benchmark library.

The program will be managed via the Unitary Foundation’s proven open-source merit frameworks. Riverlane will provide technical oversight, define explicit project criteria, and review milestone completions to ensure seamless feature adoption back into the main Deltakit package.

The Deltakit Community Fund is launching its pilot phase with an initial two active developer projects for the second half of 2026. Applications are open globally to contributors, with the exception of individuals based in: countries subject to US export controls under the EAR (including Country Groups D:1 and D:5) or US financial sanctions administered by OFAC. The advisory committee will begin reviewing applications for this first cohort on August 17th.
