Insider Brief

  • QuantrolOx raised €12 million in a Series A2 round led by IW Capital, with EIC Fund co-investment, to expand its quantum hardware automation and training business internationally.
  • The company’s three products support quantum hardware development and calibration, practical workforce training, and superconducting quantum computing research and education.
  • The funding will support product deployments, expanded training offerings and growth of its U.S. team, following a Berkeley office opening and a five-year collaboration agreement with UC Berkeley.

PRESS RELEASE — QuantrolOx, University of Oxford spinout headquartered in Finland with offices in the UK, Netherlands, US and India, has raised €12 million in a Series A2 funding round led by IW Capital, with co-investment from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund. The round also includes participation from Voima Ventures, Serendipity Capital, Hoxton Ventures, and Transpose Capital.

The investment will accelerate QuantrolOx’s commercial growth and international expansion, including its growing presence in North America following the opening of its first US office in Berkeley, California. The round brings QuantrolOx’s total funding to ~$31million or ~€28million.

As quantum computing moves towards industrial-scale development, two major challenges remain: automating increasingly complex quantum hardware and training the workforce needed to build and operate it.

QuantrolOx addresses both through three complementary products:

  • Quantum EDGE: A hardware-agnostic measurement and automation platform that accelerates QPU development, characterisation, calibration, and tuning.
  • Quantum EDGE Academy: A practical quantum hardware training platform combining expert-developed courses with realistic simulated hardware.
  • VIDYAQAR: An integrated, open-architecture superconducting quantum system for education, research, testing, and benchmarking.

Together, these products help research institutions and quantum hardware companies move from manual workflows towards scalable, automated quantum R&D while developing the engineering skills needed across the industry.

“Every industry is built on its tools and its people. QuantrolOx is building the foundations of the quantum industry: our tools industrialise quantum hardware and train the people to run it. With IW Capital and the EIC Fund behind us, we are setting the standards and accelerating the path to practical quantum computing.” – Vishal Chatrath, Co-founder and CEO, QuantrolOx

“Oxford physics, Finnish engineering and a CEO with a great commercialisation track record is a rare combination. QuantrolOx has automated the slowest, most expert-dependent part of running a quantum computer, on any hardware. With research accelerating and governments investing massive amounts of capital to support it, that software only gets more valuable. We’re proud to be backing the team and look forward to helping them scale QuantrolOx into the control layer every quantum computer runs on.” – Charlie Lyon Carroll, Investment Director at IW Capital

Expanding Across Europe, North America and Asia

Recent milestones include a five-year collaboration agreement with UC Berkeley to advance the industrialisation of superconducting quantum computing, the opening of its Berkeley office, and the launch of Q-HUB@MAHE, at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), India, where VIDYAQAR supports open-architecture quantum hardware development and hands on workforce training.

QuantrolOx also works with international research institutions and technology partners, including Rigetti, Bluefors,QuantWare, NQCC (UK), Qblox, AQSolotl and UC Berkeley.

The funding will scale Quantum EDGE deployments, expand Quantum EDGE Academy and grow the US team as the industry moves towards larger, more complex quantum systems requiring greater automation, interoperability, and skilled engineering talent.
