PRESS RELEASE — Following the successful launch of the National Quantum Course in The Hague on World Quantum Day last year, the next major step in bringing quantum technology closer to the public is already underway in this UN International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. On July 11, the International Quantum Course – an initiative designed to make quantum knowledge accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world – was launched at the closing ceremony of ITU’s AI for Good Summit in Geneva.
Funded by Quantum Delta NL, developed by a team of experts led by Jim Stolze and launched together with UNICC and ITU, the International Quantum Course is a free online program, that unveils the complexities of quantum mechanics, highlights current developments in quantum technology, and explores its future implications. The course is currently available in Dutch, English and German, with more languages following in the near future.

The International Quantum Course aims to raise awareness among students, professionals, businesses, and policymakers about the emerging opportunities and societal implications of quantum technology. The course is being launched as part of the UN International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, underlining the global importance of inclusive quantum education.
Although quantum technology is making headlines and attracting billions in investment, it still feels out of reach for most people. The International Quantum Course aims to change that by inviting anyone with internet access to take their first steps into the world of quantum technology. Whether you are 10 or 90 years old – whether you are in Boston or Botswana, this course gives a first glimpse into the world of quantum.
Quantum science and technology are rapidly advancing – from groundbreaking research to successful startups and strategic government investments. Around the world, scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders are accelerating efforts to become quantum ready. Yet, despite this momentum, quantum remains an abstract and exclusive domain for many.
The International Quantum Course offers a low-barrier, online entry point to quantum theory and applications. Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate, recognizing their first step in understanding this transformative field. More importantly, it gives them the opportunity to engage with and shape the future of quantum technology.
We are currently in the midst of the second quantum revolution. Quantum technology is set to transform far more than just computing – it will revolutionize how we address major global challenges such as climate change, cybersecurity, and drug discovery.
