PRESS RELEASE — In a recent release, SpinQ announced its partnership with the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a leading research center under Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council. The partnership centers around integrating SpinQ’s superconducting quantum processing units into TII’s quantum research framework. While the collaboration began in 2023, the announcement brings light to TII’s ongoing efforts to address technical challenges in quantum computing and contribute to the development of quantum research in the UAE. According to the release, this collaboration has been pivotal in overcoming technical and logistical hurdles in quantum computing research.

Addressing Challenges in Quantum Hardware Acquisition

As noted in the release, Superconducting quantum processing units (QPUs) are widely used in quantum computing research as they are valued for their potential to perform complex computational tasks and advance algorithm development. Yet, acquiring these systems did not come without challenge for TII. According to the release, the scarcity of standardized QPUs in the market and their high costs posed substantial financial challenges for research efforts. Additionally, TII faced challenges in verifying the performance of imported QPUs, as suppliers often lacked calibration services. This situation extended research timelines and risked inefficiencies.

To address these challenges, SpinQ delivered a solution designed to meet TII’s specific research needs. Each SpinQ QPU, built in its own facilities, includes independent control lines for each qubit to support precise operation. The technology is also described as having single-qubit gate fidelities exceeding 99.9% and two-qubit fidelities over 99%, according to the report.

SpinQ’s superconducting QPU design combines modularity and ease-of-integration ease, enabling TII to streamline the experimental setups. These units also feature strong coherence times (T₁), which contribute to gate operations and logical gate fidelity. Each device is shipped with a comprehensive performance report, which addresses TII’s earlier calibration challenges. As noted in the release, SpinQ’s approach did not end at hardware delivery. Its technical support team worked closely with TII researchers, resolving technical challenges and optimizing project outcomes.

Collaborative Solutions Shaping the Future of Quantum Research

The partnership between SpinQ and TII reflects an approach to addressing technical and logistical challenges in quantum computing research through tailored solutions. In addition to supplying superconducting QPUs, SpinQ provided design, fabrication, and testing services that supported TII’s research framework. According to the release, this collaboration enabled TII to advance its projects more efficiently and overcome specific challenges associated with QPU acquisition and integration.
