SandboxAQ, an AI-focused company, has announced the addition of Dr. Lawrence H. Summers, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, to its advisory board, according to a company blog post. Summers has extensive experience in government and the financial sector, which will be pivotal in advancing the company’s AI platforms in the U.S. and globally.
Summers said, “I am excited to join the Board of Advisors at SandboxAQ, a company at the forefront of integrating AI and advanced compute to tackle some of the most pressing global challenges. Currently, Summers serves on several prestigious boards including OpenAI and Skillsoft, and offers advisory services to major firms like D. E. Shaw & Co. and Citigroup.

Summers’ career is marked by his tenure as the 71st Secretary of the Treasury during the Clinton Administration, where he played a key role in the longest period of sustained economic growth in U.S. history and achieved a national budget surplus.
He also served as the Chief Economist of the World Bank, tackling international financial crises and influencing global economic policies. His leadership extends to co-chairing major international panels, including the G20 Independent Expert Group on Strengthening MDBs and the G20 High Level Independent Panel on Pandemic Preparedness.
In academia, Summers is the President Emeritus of Harvard University and holds the position of Charles W. Eliot Professor and Director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government. His scholarly contributions include over 150 papers and his election to the National Academy of Sciences in 2002.
Additionally, Summers holds leadership roles at the Center for Global Development and the Peterson Institute for International Economics, contributing to both non-profit and public policy spheres. Recognized globally for his influence on economic policies, Dr. Summers continues to shape discussions through various platforms including speeches, television, and publications.
