PRESS RELEASE — Redstone, one of the most active European early-stage investors renowned for its data-driven investment approach and sector-specific strategies, is thrilled to announce the launch of a new CHF 50 million venture capital fund dedicated to advancing the field of quantum technology. This exciting initiative is poised to propel the development and commercialization of pioneering quantum technologies, positioning Redstone as a leader in Europe’s quantum revolution.

As we are about to enter a new technological era, just as semiconductors led the way into the information age 65 years ago and the Internet revolutionized the world 30 years ago, we are currently experiencing similarly groundbreaking advancements in Quantum Technology. With its quantum strategy, Redstone stands at the forefront of this technological wave, establishing itself as one of Europe’s premier quantum technology funds, privately financed and independent.

The fund is being launched in close partnership with QAI Ventures, a Quantum Accelerator operating within the QuantumBasel ecosystem. “Alexandra Beckstein, Co-Founder and CEO of QAI Ventures, is making remarkable strides in creating a world-leading quantum ecosystem. Our fund and portfolio companies benefit immensely from being embedded within this ecosystem, allowing us to leverage access to a global quantum network and hardware resources,” stated Lukas André, Managing Partner of Redstone Switzerland.

The fund will be spearheaded by Marco Stutz, accompanied by quantum physicist Dr. Chiara Decaroli, and supported by Redstone’s comprehensive investment and data science team. Marco Stutz, a seasoned VC professional with over 14 years of industry experience and more than 60 investments under his belt, brings a wealth of investment expertise to the fund. Dr. Chiara Decaroli, who conducted her PhD research at ETH Zurich on scalable trapped ion quantum computers, combines her technical background in quantum technology with experience in assessing commercial use cases and the potential and impact of the technology.

Redstone is also excited to welcome renowned quantum and deep tech investors to the investment advisory committee, including Dr. Axel Thierauf, chairman of the IQM Quantum Council and former partner at MIG Fonds, and Michael Jackson, recognized by the Telegraph as one of the most influential tech investors in Europe.

The fund has already completed its first closing this summer with initial investments made in four promising companies. The fund’s primary focus is on seed- to Series-A-stage startups worldwide, spanning the entire quantum value chain.

“I am thrilled to join the new Redstone Quantum Fund! We are committed to shaping the future of quantum technology, fostering innovation, and driving progress in one of the most promising cutting-edge technologies of our time,” says Dr. Chiara Decaroli, Quantum Physicist and Part of the Investment Team of Redstone Quantum.
