Everbright Technology, Beijing Quantum Institute and Bose Quantum reached a three-way cooperation

Everbright Technology, Beijing Institute of Quantum Information Science and Beijing Boson Quantum Technology Co., Ltd (BosonQ). officially signed a three-party strategic cooperation agreement. The three parties will launch a comprehensive and in-depth cooperation on quantum technology in financial technology applications, talent training, and co-establishment of laboratories.

Origin Quantum Team Publishes Pre-Print Version of ChemiQ

Origin Quantum team has published a preprint version of its quantum chemistry application ChemiQ. The publication of ChemiQ will help researchers in quantum computing and quantum chemistry to understand the functions and advantages of the software in a comprehensive and systematic way, and to better utilize ChemiQ as a quantum chemistry simulation tool for development and research.

Tencent Quantum Lab and Tsinghua University Department of Physics Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

Tencent Quantum Laboratory and the Department of Physics of Tsinghua University signed a memorandum of cooperation in Beijing, in which the two parties discussed and reached cooperation in the areas of functional materials database, machine learning-assisted materials calculation methods, and materials virtual screening cloud platform. The signing ceremony was attended by academician Wenhui Duan from the Physics Department of Tsinghua University and the head of Tencent Quantum Lab.

Tencent discloses patent in the field of quantum technology

The patent of “a quantum measurement and control system for multi-bit quantum feedback control” was disclosed by Shenzhen Tencent Computer Systems Co. This patent relates to the field of quantum technology.

 

Research

Quantum data link established between two distant Chinese cities

Professor Jianwei Pan and his colleagues Qiang Zhang and Teng-Yun Chen, in collaboration with Xiang-Bin Wang and Yang Liu of the Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology, have achieved 428 km of double-field quantum key distribution (TF-QKD) and 511 km TF-QKD using time-frequency transfer technology, which is the longest transmission distance of QKD that doesn’t have to be trusted.

Nanjing University Recruiting Postdocs in Quantum Optics and Quantum Simulation

Professor Hui Liu’s group in the School of Physics at Nanjing University is looking for three postdocs in the research series to conduct research on fundamental physics, theoretical calculations, experimental techniques and application development related to photonic chips with superstructured materials. His research interests include micro and nano photonics (superstructured materials/equivalent excitations/photonic crystals, etc.), integrated photonic chips, quantum optics and quantum simulation (analogous gravitational/topological optics), etc.

Chinese Academy of Sciences Successfully Develops Dilution Refrigerator

Ji Zhongqing’s team at the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has developed a prototype liquid-free helium dilution cooler that can operate continuously for a long period of time at 10.9 mK and in single-stroke mode at 8.7 mK. This technological breakthrough will provide low-temperature conditions for cutting-edge research in China, such as quantum computing.

Baidu’s Institute of Quantum Computing is recruiting interns for 2021

The Institute of Quantum Computing at Baidu Research Institute focuses on quantum computing, with core research interests in quantum artificial intelligence, quantum algorithms, and quantum architectures. We are now recruiting interns for 2021 to work with researchers and engineers in the Institute to participate in the development and implementation of quantum computing technologies.

 

Education

Tsinghua University’s “Summer Camp for Outstanding Undergraduates in 2021” was successfully held

On May 29th, the summer camp for physics students was officially opened offline. Professor Duan Luming gave a report on the frontier of quantum information science, and six professors including Ma Xiongfeng focused on quantum information science, experimental research on quantum computing based on superconductivity, quantum information and computing, quantum artificial intelligence and other topics. More than 180 junior students from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University and other universities attended the event.

 

People

Prof. Yao Zhizhi Receives Kyoto Prize 2021

The Kyoto Prize for 2021 has been announced. Turing Award winner, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Director of the Institute of Cross-Information at Tsinghua University, Professor Yao received the award for his “pioneering contributions to new theories of computing and communication and to the fundamental theory of security based on such theories”.
