Words of Wisdom

It sometimes pains me to write articles such as Top Ten… or Twenty-Five of The Best… and other such listicle offerings — not because I don’t like writing them, because I do. Apart from the odd email complaint TQD receives about so-so startups or company’s exclusion on this or that listicle, they’re one kind of story I love doing. Why? I always get to research new startups and technologies, which means learning something I didn’t know before. I think it was the great Jack Welch who said: “When I stop learning something new and start talking about the past versus the future, I will go.”

One of the drawbacks to doing this is when I have to leave a company out: not because I didn’t know they existed or I don’t like their CEO or their IP is beyond useless. It’s more to do with time and word count. One such case was 25 Companies Building The Quantum Cryptography & Communications Markets, which TQD earlier this year. Now, though I mentioned twenty-five, I left many out, QuantiCor Security being one of them.

A German startup founded in 2017 by Rachid El Bansarkhani, QuantiCor Security had been on TQD’s radar for a while. I wanted to write a piece on the startup for some time, but other projects deemed more important unfortunately got precedence.

When I wrote the long cryptography piece, I thought about putting the startup in, but then decided against it for some reason.

Next Generation Cyber Security for IT-Infrastructures and IoT

I regretted that, I can tell you, for El Bansarkhani and his team are doing — judging by the news about them and their website — something great within the quantum cryptography market.

Quanticor Security

First off, QuantiCor Security is one of the “world’s top developers and manufacturers of quantum computer resistant security solutions for IT infrastructures and the Internet of Things (IoT) to medium-sized and large companies with next-generation security solutions”.

With services that encompass IoT, Cloud and network security solutions along with similar offerings for Blockchain, what gets TQD’s juices really flowing is the startup’s quantum services, which includes the innovative Quantum-IDEncrypt that guarantees security for applications such as connected vehicles, wearables, email and cloud applications, key exchange, TLS, and VPN.

QuantiCor Security also has quantum computer-resistant Public Key infrastructure with its “highly-secure solution Q PKI”, capable of protecting against cyber incursions from quantum computers.

“QuantiCor provides quantum computer resistant solutions for IoT. Security certificates of each IoT device have to be revised and maintained periodically, which is expensive, complex and inefficient. QuantiCor solves this problem with a simple IT infrastructure without the need of certificates. In this way, new devices can easily be deployed in dynamic IoT networks. That’s how we allow IoT to grow securely. Our solution is suitable to quickly and smoothly secure data of millions of devices.”

— Rachid El Bansarkhani, founder and CEO of Quanticor

All this has been made possible, of course, by the team’s hard work and expertise.

The beating heart of the startup is CEO and founder Rachid El Bansarkhani, who gained a Ph.D. in post-quantum cryptography from the Technical University Darmstadt. With experience working as a researcher on the design of quantum computer-resistant cryptosystems, he also teaches at the Darmstadt University of Technology, too.

Helping El Bansarkhani in the post-quantum cryptography world is a cadre of security experts headed by famous computer scientist, mathematician and professor emeritus at the department of computer science of the Darmstadt University of Technology, Johannes Buchmann — which can’t be a bad recruit in anyone’s book.

Besides the Quantum-IDEncrypt and Q PKI products, QuantiCor Security also offers analysis, consulting, conception, development and integration of software solutions to training and support.

Bets are we’ll be hearing a lot more from them in 2021!
