PRESS RELEASE — Quantum Days 2026, Canada’s flagship quantum technology conference, will be held in Victoria February 18th to 20th at the Victoria Conference Centre. Organized by Deep Tech Canada in partnership with Quantum BC, the three-day event will bring together researchers, companies, startups, students, investors, and policymakers shaping Canada’s quantum future.
Now in its sixth year, Quantum Days has become the central gathering for Canada’s quantum community, connecting the country’s leading research hubs with industry, government, and international partners. The 2026 program will feature breakthrough research presentations, pathways to commercialization, and strategic discussions on Canada’s position in the global quantum landscape.
Victoria’s selection as host reflects the importance of British Columbia within Canada’s national quantum ecosystem.

Quantum BC unites research excellence from the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Victoria with specialized capabilities at TRIUMF (Canada’s Particle Accelerator Centre), the Quantum Algorithms Institute, and the Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute, creating a strong quantum ecosystem in the province.
“Canada’s quantum leaders came together in 2020 to create Quantum Days, a place to connect, collaborate, and shape the national conversation as Canada developed its quantum strategy. Six years later, Quantum Days has become the platform where Canada’s quantum community connects and drives real impact. Seeing Quantum Days grow from an initial online gathering to three days of breakthrough research, partnerships, and collaboration in Victoria this year is exactly why Deep Tech Canada exists. We connect ecosystems, we build partnerships, and we create spaces where Canada’s innovators succeed.” — Janice Warkentin Steeves, President and CEO, Deep Tech Canada
“Canada is gaining global momentum in quantum technology and British Columbians are at the forefront. With support from PacifiCan, Deep Tech Canada is uniting academia, government, and industry to advance Canadian-made innovations and accelerate breakthroughs that will benefit communities across B.C. and beyond.”— The Honourable Gregor Robertson, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure and Minister responsible for PacifiCan
“B.C. is the birthplace of quantum technology and is being recognized around the world for our quantum leadership. Quantum Days clearly showcases this innovation and talent,” said Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs and Economic Growth. “Through our Look West Plan, we’re strengthening B.C.’s position in emerging sectors like quantum computing, creating jobs, attracting investment, and building a future-ready economy right here in B.C.”
“B.C. is a growing hub for cutting-edge technologies like quantum and companies like Photonic are demonstrating the calibre of B.C.’s world class tech ecosystem. Events like Quantum Days bring researchers, businesses, and innovators together from across Canada to share ideas and build connections.”, said Rick Glumac, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies. “Through Look West, we’re helping grow B.C.’s strengths in quantum, cybersecurity, and AI, and building the partnerships needed to turn great ideas into real-world solutions.”
“We’re incredibly excited to host Quantum Days 2026 and bring this flagship event to British Columbia for the first time. As investment in quantum technologies accelerates, we look forward to highlighting our province’s leadership in research excellence, industry innovation, and the development of the highly skilled talent that will shape Canada’s future,” said Dr. Thomas Baker from Quantum BC and Louise Turner from Quantum Algorithms Institute in a joint statement.
“The University of Victoria is excited to partner with Deep Tech Canada to welcome Canada’s growing quantum community to Victoria,” says Lisa Kalynchuk, UVic’s vice-president of research and innovation. “By supporting a research cluster in quantum photonics, contributing to Canada’s National Quantum Strategy and supporting future-ready career training, UVic is proud to foster growth in quantum discovery and achievement.”
