In celebration of the International Year of Quantum, Girls in Quantum has launched Q-volution, a free, fully virtual conference designed to make quantum science more accessible, inclusive, and engaging for learners of all backgrounds. Running from July 28 to August 1, 2025, Q-volution is the organization’s largest event to date, with five days of keynotes, workshops, panel discussions, and creative challenges for a global audience.
With a mission to remove barriers in STEM education, Girls in Quantum developed Q-volution as an event “by students, for students,” reflecting the community-led ethos that has defined the organization’s growth. The event is open to all ages and experience levels, with an intention to connect emerging quantum enthusiasts with leaders across industry, academia, and the arts.
“Q-volution began with the vision of creating a space during the International Year of Quantum that was by students, for students: global, welcoming, and meaningful. As the biggest event yet from GiQ, Q-volution really exemplifies our commitment to quantum education. The Girls in Quantum team have been working incredibly hard, and we are so honored to be shaping an event that connects, empowers and celebrates the next generation of quantum across the world!” — Diya Nair, Global Lead for Outreach, Girls in Quantum

Quantum Meets Creativity: The Q-Arts Competition
A unique feature of the conference is Q-Arts, an international art competition encouraging participants to explore the intersection of quantum science and creative expression. Submissions are open to quantum-inspired artwork in any medium, with winners receiving recognition across Girls in Quantum’s platforms and additional prizes.
The initiative reflects a growing trend in the field of using creativity to bring complex scientific concepts to life with broader public engagement. Q-Arts invites artists, students, and enthusiasts alike to reimagine what the quantum future might look like, both technologically and culturally.
A Milestone for Youth-Led Quantum Education
Q-volution arrives at a moment when quantum education is gaining increased global attention, but still faces gaps in accessibility and inclusion. By creating a space that welcomes both newcomers and experienced learners, Girls in Quantum is helping expand the pipeline of future talent and reshape who feels represented in the quantum field.
With registrations open worldwide and programming available entirely online, Q-volution speaks to the potential of youth-led initiatives to shape the discourse around emerging technologies. As the quantum field enters its second century, initiatives such as Q-volution create the environment necessary to equip and inspire the next generation into carrying the field forward.
Q-volution runs from July 28 to August 1, 2025, daily from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM UTC. Register here — registration is free and open to all.
