Insider Brief

  • The UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) has signed an enterprise licensing agreement with Phasecraft to give UK businesses and researchers access to its quantum software through the SparQ Access initiative.
  • The programme will invite proposals for projects involving materials science, chemistry and optimization, with technical support from Phasecraft’s scientists and engineers.
  • Participants will be able to use three Phasecraft tools: Magritte for materials and molecular modelling, Monet for density functional theory, and Mondrian for optimization applications.

PRESS RELEASE — The UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) has signed an enterprise licence agreement with Phasecraft, the quantum algorithms company, to give UK organisations access to Phasecraft’s quantum software with the aim of accelerating the use of quantum computing for real-world problems across the UK as part of the NQCC’s wider SparQ Access initiative.

As part of the collaboration, the NQCC and Phasecraft will invite proposals from UK businesses and researchers to leverage Phasecraft’s software for their own challenges in areas like materials science, chemistry, and optimisation, with support from Phasecraft’s scientists and engineers. Places are also reserved for the NQCC and academics to carry out non-commercial research.

Simon Plant, Deputy Director at the National Quantum Computing Centre, said: “Our mission at the NQCC is to ensure that UK businesses, academia and the public sector are well positioned to realise the benefits of quantum computing. This new partnership with Phasecraft marks the first time we are making quantum software available through our SparQ programme, helping organisations develop the skills, knowledge and experience they need on their journey towards quantum readiness.”

Ashley Montanaro, co-founder and CEO of Phasecraft, said: “The NQCC has long been a leader in providing UK businesses and researchers with access to cutting-edge quantum hardware. Now, with this groundbreaking partnership, these organisations will also have access to the world’s best quantum software. We’re thrilled to put Phasecraft’s technology to work and make quantum computing useful for pioneering teams across the UK.”

Phasecraft’s tools

Participants will work with one of three Phasecraft tools:

  • Magritte: a quantum-enhanced materials and molecular modelling tool for exploring quantum simulation applications through resource estimation and quantum circuit construction.
  • Monet: a quantum-enhanced density functional theory (DFT) tool for modelling materials and molecular systems.
  • Mondrian: a quantum-enhanced optimisation platform for accelerating the solution to complex problems in areas such as finance, logistics or infrastructure, available through a web interface or API.

How the programme works

The NQCC will invite expressions of interest from late November 2026, and the first cohort will start in Spring 2027. For more information, please contact the NQCC ([email protected]) or Phasecraft (support@phasecraft.io).
