The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) has placed quantum among its national priorities, supporting new research centers, funding programs, and international partnerships to accelerate adoption and training. Brazil’s leading academic institutions, such as the University of Campinas (Unicamp), São Paulo State University (UNESP), and the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), are advancing research in quantum communication, computing, and materials science.

On the industrial front, Brazilian innovators are driving commercialization through startups like QuaTI, co-founded by Felipe Fanchini, and Kryptus, led by Roberto Gallo, which apply quantum principles to secure communication and advanced computing. Public-private partnerships are extending this momentum, connecting research excellence with strategic sectors such as energy, agriculture, and cybersecurity.

Together, these efforts reflect Brazil’s model of linking policy, science, and entrepreneurship to shape a sovereign and scalable quantum future for Latin America and beyond.

Agenda Highlights

The Brazil episode of the Quantum World Tour will feature:

  • A briefing on Brazil’s national quantum efforts by Hamilton José Mendes da Silva, Director, Department of Incentives for Digital Technologies, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).
  • An overview of Brazil’s quantum ecosystem, powered by The Quantum Insider market intelligence, and presented by Cierra Choucair, Director of Strategic Content at The Quantum Insider.
