Insider Brief
- XPRIZE has named 20 Semifinalists in its $5 million, three-year Quantum Applications competition, recognizing teams developing quantum algorithms with real-world potential.
- The selected teams, chosen from 133 submissions across 31 countries, represent verified innovations in applying quantum computing to practical problems.
- Finalists will be determined after a technical evaluation phase assessing measurable quantum advantage, real-world impact, and feasibility, with results announced in December 2025.
PRESS RELEASE — XPRIZE’s independent judging panel has recognized 20 teams from around the world as Semifinalists in the XPRIZE Quantum Applications competition. Selected from 133 submissions across 31 countries, these teams reflect a growing global engagement. Their progress is grounded in the independent validation of quantum algorithm innovations for real-world applications. Semifinalists were chosen for the plausibility and quality of their ideas.
The next stage of the competition will involve deeper technical evaluation, where teams must demonstrate credible progress toward measurable quantum advantage, supporting evidence for real-world impact, and clearly articulated technical feasibility to be selected as Finalists. The results will be announced in December 2025. To learn more about the competing teams, click on a team name below.

XPRIZE Quantum Applications is a 3-year, $5M global competition designed to generate quantum computing (QC) algorithms that can be put into practice to help solve real-world challenges.

XPRIZE Quantum Applications is made possible thanks to the generous support of title sponsor Google Quantum AI, with funding from Google.org, and presenting partner the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA) Foundation.
