PRESS RELEASE — The University of Calgary’s Quantum City will host the annual qConnect summit from November 5th to 6th, bringing together quantum creators and users to transform ideas into impact. As part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, qConnect 2025 will feature insightful talks, expert panels and strategic networking opportunities. Designed to be accessible for all, qConnect encourages wider adoption of quantum solutions by fostering collaboration and action to shape the future of quantum.

As companies increasingly explore quantum technologies to position themselves for a competitive advantage, Quantum City’s growing ecosystem, talent pipeline and industry-first approach are giving companies the tools to explore, adopt and benefit from quantum before their competitors do. For example, a current project with Decentralised Energy Canada (DEC) is exploring how quantum algorithms could enhance existing tools like machine learning for predictive maintenance, improving load forecasting, optimizing microgrids, and working with complex data structures common in modern energy systems.

With global investment accelerating, Alberta is uniquely positioned to lead. A strategic partnership between the University of Calgary, the Government of Alberta and Mphasis, Quantum City’s mandate is to establish quantum-focused fabrication infrastructure, new talent development programs and adoption pathways to support the development of a vibrant economic and scientific hub based in Calgary.
