Resonance, a global provider of market intelligence and ecosystem strategy for deep technologies, today announced its participation as a coalition partner in the $25 million initiative led by Roadrunner Venture Studios to accelerate quantum innovation in New Mexico.
The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) has selected Roadrunner to spearhead the creation of a quantum campus and venture studio in Albuquerque’s Innovation District, according to a news release. This initiative will connect research excellence with real-world commercialization, with the aim of launching new companies, attracting venture capital, and strengthening New Mexico’s role as a leader in quantum technology.
New Mexico has long been recognized as a hub for scientific and defense innovation, anchored by Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories. The University of New Mexico’s Center for Quantum Information and Control (CQuIC) adds a strong academic foundation, while startups such as QuEra, Maybell, and Qunnect bring cutting-edge technical expertise. Alongside leading venture investors including DCVC, Playground Global, and Quantonation, the coalition represents a uniquely broad and capable group of partners.

Resonance will contribute to the initiative by helping to connect New Mexico’s quantum efforts with global markets, talent, and capital. The company will support ecosystem development, ensure visibility on the international stage, and help position new companies from the initiative for success in a highly competitive sector.
“Regions that succeed in quantum will do so by building coalitions that cut across sectors, disciplines, and borders. Resonance brings the market intelligence, networks, and strategy to strengthen and connect those coalitions,” said Alex Challans, CEO, Resonance. “New Mexico’s model shows what’s possible and will serve as an inspiration for others. We’re proud to play a role in that journey.”
By combining Roadrunner’s venture studio model with the collective expertise of national labs, universities, startups and investors, the initiative is positioned to become a model for U.S. quantum commercialization—linking breakthrough research, infrastructure, and company formation with long-term economic impact.
Building New Quantum Infrastructure
The Roadrunner-led coalition will establish a dedicated quantum campus in Downtown Albuquerque’s Innovation District. Planned infrastructure includes a multi-node quantum network, dilution refrigerators, a quantum testbed, packaging and demonstration facilities, and a rapid prototyping lab. Together, these resources will provide critical tools for researchers and startups to build and scale next-generation quantum technologies.
Roadrunner has also committed to launching a dedicated quantum branch of its venture studio. This studio will identify emerging talent, nurture breakthrough quantum companies, and connect them to a new capital network tailored specifically for startups based in New Mexico.
“New Mexico has long lived in the public imagination. It’s a place that has led America in the most important times with the most critical innovations — a fulcrum for national endeavor,” Adam Hammer, Co-Founder and CEO of Roadrunner Venture Studios said in the news release. “In this pivotal moment for New Mexico and for America, we are stepping forward to help lead the coming quantum revolution. To win in something as high-stakes as quantum, we need to find exceptional people, forge breakthrough companies, and fuel the second wave of great American quantum companies for global scale.”
Coalition and Commitments
In addition to Resonance and Roadrunner Venture Studios, the coalition includes Elevate Quantum, Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories, the University of New Mexico and its Center for Quantum Information and Control, pioneering startups QuEra, Maybell, and Qunnect, and venture capital firms DCVC, Playground Global, and Quantonation. This network is designed to make Albuquerque a national launchpad for quantum startups and deepen New Mexico’s role in advanced technology commercialization.
The EDD’s contract sets measurable goals through 2026, according to the news release, including:
- The creation or attraction of at least three new quantum startups.
- Deployment of private capital into regional quantum ventures.
- Demonstrable use of the quantum facilities by startups, researchers, and partner companies.
- Increased collaboration across institutions and companies.
Broader Market Context
The global market for sale of quantum technologies is projected to reach over $10 billion by 2030, according to The Quantum Insider, with Quantum Computing alone expected to generate circa $1 trillion in cumulative economic impact by 2035. . New Mexico’s initiative is intended to ensure the U.S. maintains not only scientific leadership but also execution capacity, transforming quantum science into the backbone of new industries.
To remain competitive in this potentially large market, the U.S. must move from leadership in science to leadership in execution. New Mexico’s initiative will strive to provide a blueprint that links world-class research to real-world company formation and commercial infrastructure.
