Insider Brief:

  • Resonance, through The Quantum Insider, is partnering with APS and the International Year of Quantum to amplify IYQ’s mission through a global campaign featuring a documentary series, public lectures, and educational events to make quantum science more accessible.
  • UNESCO will host the official opening ceremony of IYQ on February 4–5, 2025, in Paris. This global event will bring together scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss quantum’s role in sustainability, equity, and technological progress.
  • The International Year of Quantum commemorates a new era of quantum discovery and innovation. Resonance and The Quantum Insider are committed to shaping this future by sharing insights, encouraging collaboration, and inspiring the next generation of quantum leaders.

A hundred years ago, quantum mechanics emerged not with fanfare, but with paradox. An idea so strange it bordered on the absurd—particles that seemed to exist in multiple states at once, reality shaped by the act of observation. The world at the smallest scale refused to obey classical intuition, and the very foundation of physics had to be rewritten.

What began as a theoretical curiosity soon became the foundation for technologies that reshaped modern civilization. The semiconductor revolution, lasers, superconductivity—each a product of equations first scribbled on the margins of notebooks, debated in lecture halls, and tested in painstaking experiments. Quantum mechanics became more than a theory; it became the engine of innovation.

And now, 100 years later, quantum is at another turning point. As the International Year of Quantum Technology officially begins, Resonance, through its subsidiary The Quantum Insider, is proud to be in partnership with the American Physical Society and IYQ to illuminate quantum’s past, present, and future.

To commemorate this moment, UNESCO will host the official opening ceremony of IYQ on February 4–5, 2025, at its headquarters in Paris, France. This global gathering will bring together scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss quantum’s impact and its role in shaping a sustainable, equitable future. The Quantum Insider, through its parent company Resonance, will be attending as part of its partnership with the American Physical Society and IYQ, contributing to the year-long effort to showcase the past, present, and future of quantum science.

A GLOBAL CELEBRATION OF QUANTUM’S JOURNEY

The International Year of Quantum is more than a commemoration——it is a call to engage, educate, and innovate. Supported by leading scientific institutions, including APS, IYQ will unite researchers, industry leaders, and the public in exploring quantum’s role in fields ranging from climate science to medical innovation.

Through keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive exhibitions, the opening ceremony will showcase quantum’s impact on environmental sensing, sustainable technology, and public health. The event will also emphasize the importance of global equity in quantum research, ensuring that developing nations and underrepresented communities have access to education, research opportunities, and industry pathways.

As a strategic partner of IYQ, Resonance, through The Quantum Insider, is dedicated to amplifying this mission. In 2025, Resonance will launch a global campaign featuring a documentary series on the history and future of quantum science, alongside educational events, public lectures, and workshops designed to make quantum accessible to all. Through in-depth reporting, exclusive interviews, and expert analysis, The Quantum Insider will serve as a leading voice throughout IYQ, bringing quantum developments to a worldwide audience.

Beyond the opening ceremony, IYQ’s year-long initiative will engage global audiences through exhibitions, public lectures, and outreach programs, reinforcing the role of quantum science as both a driver of discovery and a force for global progress.

THE NEXT CENTURY STARTS NOW

One hundred years ago, quantum was born into uncertainty—not just in equations, but in what it meant for our understanding of reality itself. Today, that uncertainty is piecemeal, iteratively traded for possibility. The quantum technologies now being developed will possibly redefine how we think of computation, security, and scientific discovery. And just as the early pioneers of quantum mechanics could not have foreseen the digital age built upon their theories, we, too, stand on an undefined precipice, one that will shape the next century in ways we have yet to imagine.

Quantum is no longer the future. It is here. The Quantum Insider, alongside Resonance and APS, is honored to be part of this historic moment. The opening ceremony of IYQ is only the beginning of a year that will celebrate breakthroughs, inspire new generations, and build the foundation for the next era of quantum science.
