PRESS RELEASE — In a recent release, D-Wave Quantum Inc., a company specializing in quantum computing systems, software, and services, announced a partnership with Carahsoft Technology Corp., a prominent provider of IT solutions for government entities. This collaboration is intended to bring D-Wave’s quantum computing technologies to public sector organizations through Carahsoft’s reseller network and multiple procurement platforms.
The agreement enables public sector entities to access D-Wave’s technologies via established government contract vehicles such as NASA Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement (SEWP) V, Information Technology Enterprise Solutions – Software 2 (ITES-SW2), The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS), OMNIA Partners, E&I Cooperative Services Contract, and The Quilt contracts.
FOCUS ON GOVERNMENT ADOPTION OF QUANTUM TECHNOLOGIES
As reported in the release, Lorenzo Martinelli, Chief Revenue Officer at D-Wave, emphasized the importance of the partnership in supporting quantum adoption within government organizations. “We believe this partnership is key to accelerating Government adoption of quantum, as it opens up access to annealing quantum computing now available through Carahsoft’s contract vehicles,” Martinelli said.
The collaboration intends to increase awareness and utilization of D-Wave’s technologies within the public sector, providing tools for addressing national priorities. These include applications in defense, intelligence, emergency response, energy infrastructure, and materials science research.
D-WAVE’S QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY
D-Wave is recognized for its annealing quantum computing systems, which are suited for optimization problems—situations requiring the best solution from a large set of possible options. Customers can access D-Wave’s Advantage quantum computing systems through its Leap quantum cloud service for real-time problem-solving and application development.
Additional offerings include workforce training programs to support the development of skills for public sector employees in quantum computing and hybrid applications as well as professional services support to assist agencies in developing applications specifically tailored to their use cases, ensuring the technology is effectively aligned with the needs of government organizations.
ADDRESSING PUBLIC SECTOR CHALLENGES AND ACCESS
As reported in the release, Troy Meraw, Program Manager for Quantum Technologies at Carahsoft, noted the potential of D-Wave’s quantum solutions to assist government agencies in solving complex optimization challenges. “By partnering with D-Wave and working with our reseller partners, we can provide Government agencies with access to real-time quantum solutions that could help address national priorities, from defense to infrastructure optimization,” Meraw said.
Through this partnership, and Carahsoft’s role as a Master Government Aggregator, D-Wave’s technologies will become more accessible to U.S. government agencies, national laboratories, and systems integrators. Public sector entities will have access to quantum tools that address diverse challenges, such as optimizing logistics, improving emergency response, and increasing energy resilience.
