PRESS RELEASE — SDT announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Malaysia’s national research institute, MIMOS, on November 26 to collaborate on quantum technology and develop an industrial ecosystem.
The signing ceremony, held on the 25th at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, was attended by SDT’s CEO Jiwon Yune, MIMOS CEO Saat Shukri Embong, Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) Chang Lih Kang, and Korea’s Deputy Minister for Trade Cheong In-kyo, along with other key officials from both governments.
This partnership aims to spark industrial innovation centered on quantum technologies and establish Malaysia as a regional leader in the quantum industry.
SDT will work with MIMOS to establish and operate Malaysia’s first quantum computing center, leveraging SDT’s full-stack quantum computing technology and MIMOS’ research capabilities to develop physical and cloud-based quantum resources. The collaboration also extends to building a national quantum cryptography network with Malaysia’s National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), utilizing SDT’s expertise in 1:N quantum key distribution (QKD) technology.
Additionally, the partnership focuses on developing talent through educational programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives, attracting investments, and commercializing quantum technologies to realize Malaysia’s vision of a “Quantum Valley.” By integrating quantum technologies into manufacturing and key export industries, both countries aim to contribute to the growth of the global quantum economy.
