PRESS RELEASE — QAI Ventures, an ecosystem builder born out of the privately funded initiative of uptownBasel, is expanding its presence to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and plans a close collaboration with Quantum City.

QAI Ventures offers acceleration programs and investment funding for early-stage quantum and advanced AI startups worldwide. Its startup accelerator provides entrepreneurs and innovators with premium access to cutting-edge technology, expert guidance, and tailored mentorship, supporting them throughout their journey of taking their projects from the lab to the market and pre-IPO.

Established in 2022, Quantum City is building an ecosystem for quantum science and technology in Alberta, uniting researchers, developers, industries, and adopters of quantum technology and services. A strategic partnership between the University of Calgary, the Government of Alberta, and Mphasis, Quantum City has positioned itself as a key player in shaping the future of quantum innovation.

Quantum City, a pioneering force in quantum science and technology based in Alberta, intends to collaborate with QAI Ventures, headquartered in Arlesheim, Switzerland. This strategic alliance will mark a significant milestone in advancing quantum technology startups on a global scale by facilitating their access to both the North American and European markets.

To initiate this collaboration, QAI Ventures and Quantum City intend to launch a project to lay the foundation for quantum science and technology advancements, which will allow startups to utilize the advantages of the two industry locations, Arlesheim, Switzerland, and Alberta, Canada, and develop their technologies in the best possible way alongside an investment instrument.

The first program of the new QAI Ventures Canada will kick off its first cohort in early 2025 in Alberta at Quantum City. Early-stage quantum startups from all over the world are already encouraged to submit their applications at https://qai-ventures.com/accelerator/#apply.

“This strategic move by QAI Ventures represents a significant step forward in establishing Alberta as a national and international leader in the quantum economy,” said Megan Lee, Managing Director of Quantum City.  “By working with QAI Ventures, we plan to expand our reach and accelerate the development of quantum solutions that have the potential to shape the future of various industries while enhancing access to investment opportunities. We look forward to QAI Ventures’ presence at Quantum City and welcoming the world’s quantum startups to Calgary”.
