PRESS RELEASE — The Platform for Digital and Quantum Innovation of Quebec (PINQ²) and the Quantum Algorithms Institute (QAI) based in British Columbia are proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership that will leverage the computing capabilities of the IBM Quantum System One computer located at IBM Bromont, Quebec.

In this pioneering transnational collaboration, QAI enables access to the IBM Quantum System One computer provided by PINQ² to students and faculty across British Columbia post-secondary institutions. This initiative harnesses the world-renowned system and expertise available in Quebec’s Quantum Innovation Zone, providing a gateway to one of the most advanced quantum systems within IBM’s global fleet of quantum computers.

“We are delighted to welcome QAI as the first organization in British Columbia to be working with the IBM Quantum System One based in Québec,” said Éric Capelle, General Manager of PINQ². “This not only marks a significant milestone for Canada’s quantum ecosystem, it also advances research in the field of quantum computing. We are pleased and proud to assist the BC quantum ecosystem by providing PINQ² infrastructure.”

“QAI is thrilled to work with our partner PINQ² to increase access to quantum technologies to a wider audience in B.C.,” said QAI CEO Louise Turner. “Canada is a global leader in quantum technologies, and this partnership supports the continued economic growth of the quantum sector across Canada.”

PINQ² and QAI are working together to advance access to quantum innovation through comprehensive training, including workshops in collaboration with IBM. This strategic partnership aims to enable greater access to the IBM Quantum System One within the country’s academic community.
