On a mission to enable the quantum internet, Aliro joins three QED-C Technology Advisory Committees; welcomes Towsley’s advice and expertise in quantum networking architecture and performance

“We are excited to welcome Aliro as a Founding Member of the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C),” said Celia Merzbacher, Deputy Director of QED-C. “Aliro and QED-C share a goal to enable quantum networking and other applications by building the foundational technology needed. We look forward to Aliro’s contributions to QED-C as we grow a robust commercial quantum-based industry and associated supply chain in the United States.”

Through QED-C, Aliro will take part in the effort to identify high impact use cases and applications for hybrid classical and quantum networking, as well as identify gaps and needed performance metrics in enabling technologies.

“Our mission to enable the quantum internet requires the best minds in both quantum computing and networking,” said Prineha Narang, Professor at Harvard and CTO of Aliro. “That’s why we are pleased to join QED-C and welcome Professor Don Towsley as an advisor. Professor Towsley’s work has already inspired our product roadmap, and I look forward to his continued guidance to help us accelerate our platform development.”

Don Towsley is a Distinguished Professor in the College of Information & Computer Sciences at University of Massachusetts – Amherst. Professor Towsley’s research spans a wide range of activities from secure communications to distributed machine learning and, in recent years, quantum communications and networking. Towsley and collaborators have provided fundamental research across the quantum network stack, from quantum switch designs (“On the Exact Analysis of an Idealized Quantum Switch”) to new routing algorithms (“Routing Entanglement in the Quantum Internet”). Towsley’s expertise across the quantum networking stack will inform Aliro’s network network simulation and emulation products.

In addition, Towsley is a leader at the Center for Quantum Networks (CQN) Engineering Research Center at the University of Arizona, where Professor Prineha Narang at Harvard and Aliro CTO is also a research area co-lead.

“I have worked closely with Professor Narang on research in the Center for Quantum Networks (CQN) at the University of Arizona, and I am thrilled to now support the Aliro team,” said Professor Don Towsley. “As Aliro’s focus naturally aligns with my research in quantum networking architecture and performance, I am looking forward to assisting their efforts in bringing commercial and defense applications to life.”

Aliro recently announced two new quantum networking simulation and emulation platform products, Aliro Q.Network and Aliro Q.Compute, to enable quantum network development. Professor Narang at Harvard has recently given a series of keynotes on Aliro’s development at several virtual conferences, including: InnovationXLab Quantum Information Science & Technology Summit, IEEE Quantum Week, Inside Quantum Technology Europe, Quantum.Tech Quantum Thursday, and the OIDA Technology Showcase.
