PRESS RELEASE — Nord Quantique, a Canadian quantum computing company pioneering hardware-efficient quantum error correction, today announced a US$10 million extension of its Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI) Stage B agreement.

The extension supports Nord Quantique’s continued participation in Stage B and its potential to deliver utility-scale quantum computing with significantly reduced hardware requirements.

DARPA Quantum Benchmarking Initiative aims to determine whether emerging quantum computing architectures can achieve utility-scale operation by 2033. The program rigorously evaluates the technical feasibility, scalability and resources required to develop commercially valuable quantum computers.

“This marks another important milestone for Nord Quantique and reflects the momentum behind our technology,” said Julien Camirand Lemyre, CEO and co-founder of Nord Quantique. “The DARPA program provides an important opportunity to validate our approach against the demanding requirements of utility-scale quantum computing. We’re proud to continue that work as we advance our commercial roadmap.”

Nord Quantique’s architecture uses bosonic quantum error correction to protect quantum information within individual physical qubits, dramatically reducing the hardware overhead traditionally associated with fault tolerance. This approach offers a pathway toward compact, efficient quantum computers designed to integrate into existing infrastructure.

The additional funding strengthens Nord Quantique’s development roadmap and supports its ambition to bring scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computing to commercial markets.
