PRESS RELEASE — QuantWare, the industrial quantum processor company, today announced that Bart Filius will join the company as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective 12 October 2026. Filius will also join the Board of Directors of QuantWare, as the company scales the industrial production of VIO™quantum processors and expands its commercial footprint worldwide.
The appointment comes during a period of rapid growth for QuantWare. The company has closed a $178M (€152M) Series B in May 2026, is building KiloFab, its industrial-scale fabrication facility in the Netherlands, and has grown its commercial footprint to 50+ customers across 20 countries.
Filius brings more than two decades of financial and executive leadership in high-growth, science-driven companies. During nearly nine years at Galapagos, he served as CFO, COO and President. There he managed the company’s substantial growth and financing, including its IPO on Nasdaq and subsequent follow-on financings, and led the negotiation of its $5bn R&D collaboration with Gilead. Before Galapagos, he spent 13 years at Sanofi, where he was CFO of Sanofi Europe and Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions. He currently chairs the audit committee of ProQR Therapeutics (Nasdaq: PRQR).
His experience in building a deeply technical company into a global, commercial-stage business closely parallels the path ahead for QuantWare. That path involves long-horizon R&D, significant capital requirements, and strategic partnerships with some of the world’s largest technology companies.
“Our mission is hyperscaling quantum processors to solve humanity’s greatest challenges, which requires building a company that operates at a global scale,” said Matt Rijlaarsdam, CEO and Co-Founder of QuantWare. “Bart is a true leader who knows what it is like to build a hypergrowth company, through good times and challenging ones. He is an exceptional profile, and I’m delighted to have him on our side as we continue to grow our business.”
“QuantWare has the ambition, the technology and the team to lead the industrialization and commercialization of quantum computing,” said Bart Filius. “What attracted me most was the scale of the vision and the energy of the team pursuing it, and I look forward to building the financial foundations for QuantWare’s next phase of growth.”
