Announcement — Alexandria, Virginia, April 24, 2023 — PSIRCH, on behalf of Virginia Tech Innovation Campus in partnership with Northrop Grumman, is managing an active search for senior leaders in Quantum, for the position of: Director, Center for Quantum Architecture & Software Development.

The Center Director, to be situated at a brand-new state-of-the-art quantum center in Alexandria, Virginia, will lead the quantum effort, set the strategy, vision, and impactful research direction for quantum, hire a team of 5+ faculty members, and continue the growth of the center to raise its acclaim, attract notable talent in quantum, and integrate internally and externally across the quantum ecosystem for the Center.

With a view to building on the already successful quantum program of VTQ at the Virginia Tech Blacksburg Campus, instituting a world-class quantum program, and developing the Innovation Campus into a leading destination for quantum, the Center Director will be a key figurehead for the quantum community in perhaps the most consequential region worldwide for quantum R&D.

Qualified candidates for this endowed chair and tenured appointment will already be recognized leaders in the field of quantum information theory and/or related fields, and will bring to bear a wealth of notable research, collaboration, and previous partnerships across academia, government, and industry.

Exceptional candidacies of foreign nationals will be considered, with a preference, though not a requirement, for U.S. citizens.
