AUREA Technology

Of all the verticals that quantum technology will have an influence on, it is maybe — at least in the short to mid-term — quantum communications, the quantum Internet and quantum sensing which will have the biggest impact on humanity.

A company that is part of this process, by way of manufacturing a new generation of high-performance and self-contained optical instruments for quantum applications based on entangled photon sources, t single photon counting detectors, and timing electronics technologies, is AUREA Technology, a Besancon, France-based company founded in 2010 by Jerome Prieur. Joining other leading players in the space like ID Quantique, Single Quantum, Photek, Bruker, Teledyne‎, and Thorlabs, AUREA Technology is a definite leader in Geiger-mode single-photon counting, entangled photon source, picosecond laser source, fast time correlation electronics, and optical fibre sensing instruments.

AUREA Technology also provides best-in-class professional support to more than 200 worldwide customers directly or through its professional distribution channels in North America, Europe, and Asia, while working closely with its global customers to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow in quantum security, life sciences, nanotechnology, automobile, medical, and defence.

The fully comprehensive suite of the high-performance optical building blocks include:

• Picosecond diode LASER

• Twin Photon Source at telecom wavelengths

• Single Photon Counting Modules (two kinds)

• TCSPC Correlation module

• Time-Resolved Single Photon Counter

• PICOXEA TCSPC Analyser

• Single Photon detection module

• Time-Resolved Single Photon Counter

• PICOXEA TCSPC Analyser

• Single Photon detection module

Applications where these products can be applied cover Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Quantum OTDR, Lifetime measurements — TCSPC, Photon sources characterization — Quantum Dots, and Single Photon Detector for eye-safe LIDAR.

All AUREA Technology’s solutions are provided with an exhaustive DLL library in LabVIEW, Python, and C++, and the newly introduced device-to-device communication protocol for easy integration in larger Quantum communication systems.

Founder

AUREA Technology’s Founder, President and CEO is Jerome Prieur, a high-tech executive with 20 years of experience in high-growth startups and large corporations. Professionally skilled and passionate in entrepreneurship, sales management, business development, strategic partnerships, branding and manufacturing, before founding AUREA Prieur had spent time as a Sales and Development Manager, the Director of Sales for two photonics companies in Silicon Valley and Managing Director and Vice President at QKD startup, SmartQuantum.

Prieur obtained an MS in Optoelectronics and Lasers from Heriot-Watt University/St Andrews University, a Master of Advanced Study in Laser, Optics and Photonics from Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris, and an MBA in Management of Innovative Technologies from TBS Education.

Speaking earlier this year on the scaling up by investing in both its production and its technical support, Prieur said:

“We are very pleased to invest in scalable production and customer services of the most advanced and reliable NIR single photon counting detection solution. AUREA Technology is ready to accept large volume orders, and supply the Quantum communications and Quantum sensing community in a qualitative and timely manner.”

AUREA’s top-notch near-infrared single-photon counting detection modules are an exciting addition to the world of Quantum 2.0. With Prieur’s experience and expertise, expect to hear a lot more from them in the future.
